Meditation Mythbusting

You Might Be Meditating and Don't Even Know It!

I love meditating. LOVE it.  I am into the good old-fashioned ‘sitting in silence and stillness’ kind of meditating and have spent hundreds of hours “sitting” (as we say). But, I am clear that this is not for everyone. This type of meditation is called a “practice” for a reason.

What may surprise and delight you is that you likely already have a meditation practice and perhaps have not realized it as such.

Meditation is defined simply as the practice of thinking deeply or focusing one’s mind for a period of time.

This could include but is not limited to:

  • Walking
  • Yoga
  • Running
  • Praying
  • Singing
  • Playing a musical instrument
  • Putting puzzles together
  • Journaling
  • Being in nature
  • Qigong
  • Thai Chi
  • Breathing
  • Sex
  • Coloring
  • Dancing

We need leaders who can focus their minds. We all deserve, and very much need, the many benefits that meditation brings.

The question is simply this: what do you partake in that is meditative and how can you create space for more of that?  Yes, please!
